We introduced the Crayon Initiative to BBE just a week before school let out for the summer and it was a tremendous success! The Crayon Initiative is a non-profit organization based in California that recycles used or unwanted crayons into new ones. These are then donated to schools, hospitals, art programs, and other organizations invested in children all over the US.
In just a little over a week, about 58 pounds of crayons were collected from the BBE classroom as students and teachers cleaned out their desks and cabinets. This is ~5200 crayons!!! We want to continue this program into the school year and more info will be provided as the school year approaches. In the meantime, whenever you and the kiddos are out for a bite this summer and the restaurant provides some crayons for activities and for keeping the peace until the food arrives, keep this project in mind. Instead of leaving the crayons on the table where they almost always get thrown away, save them and bring them to school!

Volunteers of the Month
We are so thankful for our volunteers!
Lara Durand: For helping so much with the ticket sales booth at FF. She was there the entire night, accommodating as many people as she could. It was so very helpful knowing she was there as I ran around like a crazy person! She was even-keeled and in good spirits the entire time...even when we were at our busiest!! So thankful for her!
Michelle Parker / Alison Davis / Barbara Goodwin: Helping in the library and for being available whenever and wherever I need them.
Debra Bache / Julie Geter / Michelle Parker / Katrina Bailey / Clara De Ridder / Brook Erwin (also for help with Nutcracker) / Tina Pawlik: I had a lot of help on Santa's Workshop, but these volunteers did the most!
Ircka West: For doing an amazing job on Santa's Workshop!!
